Best Christmas Light Displays in America

With December finally here, many cities across America are gearing up for their annual Christmas light displays and celebrations. From New England to the Gulf Coast, people will be lining up to enjoy the season's music, decorations and activities in conjunction with these festive lighting ceremonies. Here are some car travel tips on the nation's best Christmas light displays.
Washington, D.C.
For almost a century, our nation's capital has hosted the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Featuring a 40-foot Colorado blue spruce - which was transplanted from York, Pennsylvania, in 1978 to its present location on the Ellipse - this celebration features performances and appearances from popular film, television and music stars.
Walt Disney World
"The happiest place on earth" gets an added boost of holiday cheer thanks to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights - a tradition first imported from Arkansas in 1995. Each year, the Osborne family covers Disney's Streets of America in lights that are synchronized with festive holiday music. This event is combined with Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade in the Magic Kingdom.
New York City
Perhaps the most famous Christmas light display in the world, New York's Rockefeller Center has become an iconic American tradition. Starting in the '30s, the entire plaza's decoration has revolves around the beautiful Norway Spruce. Visitors can also enjoy skating in front of the tree on Rockefeller Center's ice rink.
