Vehicle Snow Removal 101

Whether you live on a crowded city street or in a quiet suburb, digging out your vehicle after a major snowstorm can be a challenge. Depending on the amount of snow and your own strength, this obstacle can take a few minutes or a whole afternoon to beat. Here are some basic tips to help make the process as quick and painless as possible.
Clear the driver door
If you've managed to locate your vehicle under all the snow, begin by working your way to the driver's door. Once clear, you can climb inside your car and start the engine. With your car running and the window heaters on, much of the snow will simply melt off. Make sure to clear the area around your tailpipe too so that exhaust does not build up inside.
Work from the top-down
Few things are more frustrating when clearing snow than seeing a new pile slide onto an area that you just finished. For maximum car cleaning efficiency, begin with the roof and push off snow using a snow brush or extended broom.
Create a safe snow pile
When removing snow from your car, make sure to pile the excess snow away from the street or any area your car needs to drive. You want to ensure safe and clear passage for other vehicles and pedestrians by not creating another snow obstacle.
