What To Do in Case of an Emergency in the Car

What To Do in Case of an Emergency in the Car.

When driving with elderly individuals or children in the car, you should always be aware that these age groups are typically more susceptible to medical conditions. In case of a sudden emergency, there are certain procedures you should follow to ensure that these family members or friends are taken care of.

The first thing to remember is to remain calm because panic can easily cloud your judgment and distort your ability to make wise decisions. If you know that a passenger has a medical condition, like diabetes or heart problems, make it a point to ask if he or she has medicine in the car. This can slow the progression of symptoms and give you more time to get to the hospital or doctor's office without speeding.

If the condition is unknown but serious, calmly switch on the warning blinkers and keep the passenger engaged by talking. Call emergency personnel for assistance. Just be sure to drive safely, even if it seems like things are turning for the worst.

Following these car travel tips will help you deal with a critical situation if a family health problem occurs while you're behind the wheel.
